Infant – birth to 24 months
Because infants and young children learn continuously by exploring and interacting with their environment New Dimensions educators
​
-will create a warm and secure emotional climate for each child through the loving and sensitive
relationship with a primary caregiver
-will provide cognitive stimulation through conversation, interaction and responsive
relationships
-will design safe spaces for quiet and active play (both inside and outdoors), sleeping, and
spaces to interact one-on one with individual caregivers;
-will select toys and activities primarily for individual interests and abilities
-will plan for each day, individualizing activities, materials and schedules according to the
routines of each infant/toddler;
-will lay the path to literacy through talking aloud using simple words, asking questions, reading
age-appropriate books, showing interesting pictures and photos.
